If you are from the Chicago-land area then you have already heard of Batter & Berries by now. For those of you who have not, let me tell you about my experience at this breakfast gem.
I have been trying to go to Batter and Berries for some time now. Having moved back to NY, it has been quite difficult for me to make a visit. However, about two weeks ago I was finally able to get out to Chicago, IL, I made it my personal business to stop in, and dragged five of my friends along with me. The restaurant appears quite small from the outside, but inside is larger than one would think. For most of us, it was our first time there, and our expectations were high from hearing the buzz about the restaurant.
The manager/host was already expecting us because my friend, who arrived first, went in and let him know we were a fairly large group. When we walked in, we were greeted and seated. The server came by and explained the menu and the specials to us. It being our first time we took a little longer to order, yet the waitress was extremely patient with us to say the least.
I ordered The Traditional (eggs, spicy sausage, and cheesy hash browns) and Caramel French Toast. My friends ordered Strawberry French Toast, Lemon French Toast, the Deconstructed Chicken Fajita Omelet, and the Surf and Turf Omelet.
In my opinion, the food was delicious. I was not the biggest fan of the sausage, I may try their chicken sausage next time, but overall I did not have any complaints. The service was great, our server really took care of us, even when it started to get very busy. Overall it was a pleasant visit, and all of my expectations were met. If I had to vote, I would give Batter & Berries a 5/6 star rating. If you have not had a chance to stop by, I suggest you do.

Not up early enough to visit? Do not fret, the owner Derek Rylon also owns a barbeque joint, Rylon’s Smokehouse; and just opened his third restaurant, Palette, a bar with adult beverages and food options that range from waffles to seafood.
