About two weeks ago at the Chicago Greek Picnic, we had the opportunity to meet a young man by the name of Charles Robinson, also known as, Traps. He is a 26 years old personal trainer from Maywood, IL and he is taking the Chicago land area by storm. He’s been a trainer for almost three years, but his love for fitness started during his time in the military. He served 4 years in the Marine Corps and has been continuously growing his brand ever since. Sometimes it takes a bad place or rough spot to get our gears going and Charles is no exception to that.
After he left the military, he began to hang with the wrong crowds, experiencing with drugs and alcohol and unfortunately became homeless. However, he was able to pull himself out from that dark place and build an empire from the ground up. Turning a very negative situation into a positive he began exercising to combat all of his problems. There are many reasons to exercise for example, it helps reduce stress, and keeps your mind occupied.
Charles’ passion goes far beyond fitness as he finds pride in helping others realize their strengths and weaknesses. His favorite part about training his clients, is putting a smile on their faces, helping them to increase their self-confidence and self-esteem, and most importantly, teaching them to trust the process. While Charles is well known for his training, he does much more than that. He currently plays wide-receiver for the Chicago Mustangs Semi-Pro Football team and was featured on American Ninja Warrior Season 8 (Indianapolis). He is also TNDO's (Take No Days Off) first sponsored athlete and a motivational speaker. Charles has spoken to the youth in a number of arenas. Recently he collaborated with CoachUp and Fitness and Beyond Programs to help mentor and train young athletes. He meets with the Proviso West Panthers (Football) and coming up he will be speaking at their "Back to School Fair" on August 14th.
What stands out the most about this young man is how he touches the lives of those around him. He is incredibly involved in the community; helping, guiding, and supporting the youth. He also has this appealing and honorable quality where he can become someone's friend and partner. Charles has the ability to be hard yet empathetic, without sacrificing work. During our interview with him, we realized just how humble and professional he is. Nonetheless, he is a true inspiration, hard worker, and exceptional trainer. His compassion and enthusiasm for fitness training is just what any person needs to achieve their personal fitness goals.
