Hot, steamy, and passionate; words that describe the novels in a number of series written by Jessica Watkins. Urban Romance isn't necessarily my first choice when it comes to genre, but when my line sister recommended I read Capone and Capri, I have to say I was locked in.
The author, Jessica Watkins, is an urban romance novelist and publisher from Chicago, IL. She started her writing career at the age of nine years old. Jessica’s life hasn’t been quite the norm. At the young age of fourteen she gave birth to her son, and used writing to express herself. Jessica has not let anything stop her success, she graduated from DePaul University with a BA in Psychology and a Masters in Applied Professional Studies with a focus in Business Administration.
As Jessica matured, so did her writing. She began writing urban romance and women’s fiction novels. Her 1st book debuted in April of 2008. Jane Doe, is part one of the compelling trilogy Growing Pains. The series follows three main characters, Lyric Caldwell, Latrice Anderson, and Victoria Renee Brown. These three ladies encounter trials and tribulations per living in their urban environment. All have trying at home lives, strained relationships, and rely upon each other for advice, support and guidance.
Not only is Jessica a writer and best-selling author in her own right, but she is also the founder and operator of her very own publishing company: Jessica Watkins Presents(JWP). The company launched in August of 2014. This allows Jessica to give other urban novelists the opportunity to publish their work. She also, talks to the youth about touchy subjects, such as teen pregnancy, and overcoming obstacles, hosts workshops, and book signings.
Jessica currently has five series released: Growing Pains; Love, Sex, Lies; Thug Love; Secrets of a Side B****; and Capone and Capri.
